This is an exciting time for you as a strategic thinking problem-solver to join our senior leadership team. To meet the challenges we face as a city and council, the senior leadership team has been aligned to three strategic themes – Organisation, Economy and Families.
We are looking for someone to fill the role of Director of Finance - which sits in the Organisation strategic theme - you will be responsible for a dynamic portfolio of services, putting residents at the heart of what we do while responding to the city and council’s priorities at a time when local government is facing sizeable financial challenges.
- Don’t have local government experience but have significant financial experience
– we want to hear from you - Aspiring to be a Section 151 Officer, with statutory responsibility for the Council’s financial affairs, or want to use your Section 151 Officer experience to ‘challenge’ the norm – we want to hear from you
- Want to be our strategic lead for finance but want to lead in a matrix cross cutting way for our council and city #onecouncil – we want to hear from you
The successful candidate will be accountable for leading a range of services including:
- Strategic Finance (financial advice, budget strategy, final accounts, etc)
- Internal Audit
- Procurement
- Commercial Services
- Revenues and Benefits
- The Hub (payroll, banking etc) and
- You will also be the Council’s Section 151 Officer or aspire to be the Section 151 Officer (as a minimum however, you will be required to be the Deputy Section 151 Officer)
